iPhone users have been ‘jailbreaking’ their phones since the release of the original iphone, but now, German government officials fear that hackers will take advantage of the technology. Because the latest jailbreak targets the iPhone iOS, Apple has responded strongly. Because iPhone users could now be infected with a virus simply by clicking on a PDF that was written to include a malicious code, virtually every Apple product is susceptible.

App developers have long asked Apple to allow them the right to create programs that address the company’s shortcomings, but Steve Jobs and others have repeatedly shot them down. The fact that the newest version of the iPhone will be coming with technology that prevents concert goers from recording footage with the iPhone is more than enough to indicate where Apple’s real loyalties lie. Although there have been no reports of a virus outbreak, iPhone owners have been instructed to avoid downloading the newest jailbreak program.

Consumers that use the jailbreak software are not able to have their iPhones fixed by authorized dealers because the program can essentially void their warranties. They will also have a harder time getting access to vital software updates. Owners of the iPhone who have not accessed the jailbreak software are still vulnerable. Currently, technology experts are actually suggesting that they should download the jailbreak software, and then use a security patch in order to fix the potential security breech. It will probably be only a few days before Apple comes up with a permanent solution, but this latest debacle goes to show that even technology industry leaders can be imperfect.

RIM, the company responsible for the Blackberry is facing massive financial losses, partially due to the actions of Apple. Neither company has made their objectives a secret. While the Blackberry is still fairly popular among those that have come to lose the smart phone, the fact is that the mobile phone doesn’t have as many bells ans whistles as the iPhone. The Blackberry Messenger service is about the only thing that is drawing in customers, however, Apple’s newly launched iPhone based iMessenger is giving RIM a run for its money.

With its stock prices falling and the popularity of the Blackberry waning, RIM is in near free fall. The mobile phone manufacturer doesn’t have any other viable products on the line, so if consumers continue to go for smart phones made by Apple, HTC and LG instead, the end of RIM as it is known may soon be here. This is not a recent development for RIM. In fact, the company has experienced massive financial losses over the course of the past five years. Each new line of Blackberry mobile devices had executives watching and waiting to see how the public would respond, however, they were sorely disappointed.

Apple hasn’t released a new version of the iPhone in over a year, but when the iPhone 5 comes onto the market it could be very bad news for Blackberry. Blackberry App World pales in comparison to iTunes and FaceTime makes Blackberry Messenger seem like a joke. Although RIM is holding onto hope, Apple is ready to put the last nail in the coffin.

If you were hoping to be able to see 3D movies and videos on your iPhone, think again. Although the iOS 5 will come with 3D technology capabilities, it is being reserved for publishers and advertisers. Basically, iPhone owners will be hit with tons of commercials and advertisements in 3D format, but they won’t be able to do much else with their graphics cards. The news is certainly disappointing, but it seems like this is just one more trick Apple has up its sleeve in order to entice consumers to purchase the iPhone 5. Besides, how else would Apple be able to get technology fans to invest in its next generation of products if it constantly updated the older models to have the same features?

The iAd platform is extremely popular with publishers targeting iPhone and iPad owners. Instead of building ads that are used for the web, full length commercials can be embedded in apps. Out of the nearly 400,000 iPhone apps that are available for download, the vast majority of them feature some type of advertisement. Whether a company chooses to include a link to its official website, or program its apps to periodically play advertisements, Apple is winning all the way around.

Advertisers might be excited about having the ability to showcase 3D graphics, but users might continue to ignore their efforts. ‘Ad blindness,’ as its called on the web, has moved to mobile devices. No matter how hard businesses try, users will continue to buy only when they are completely sold.

AT&T has been trying diligently to get Congress to allow it to merge with T-Mobile – a move that would potentially make AT&T the largest cellular provider in the US. Unfortunately, angry citizens and consumer advocacy groups have been working diligently to prevent the merger from happens. Before that, the world learned that AT&T would no longer be the the sole carrier of the iPhone. Verizon Wireless and AT&T will have to complete for the same group of customers, and based on Verizon’s track record they might come out as the winner.

Now, AT&T is being sued by iPhone owners that claim that they have been overcharged for data usage. The company recently ended its unlimited usage plan, which had only been around for a few years. Due to the fact that the iPhone is almost completely dependent on the web to execute its most coveted tasks. As a result, AT&T stock has taken a huge hit and the company has all but ended all of its advertising efforts that promote contracts in which consumers can get a free iPhone.

While the cell phone giant will probably be able to bounce back, critics say that AT&T is finally getting its just reward. The class action lawsuit filed against AT&T will cost the company millions of dollars to defend. They will be subject to an endless amount of audits as well as depositions. The only thing that AT&T has to look forward to now is the premiere of the iPhone 5, which hasn’t been officially announced by Apple yet.

Smart phone owners and technology lovers can’t wait to get their hand on the next best thing. The only problem that comes with constantly updating electronics is that most consumers end up accumulating quite a collection. Some people will end up taking their old electronics apart so that they can tinker around with the internal components but the vast majority just throw them away. This is why Ecosquid has started the best affiliate program website in the technology industry. There have been many companies that have initiated electronic recycling programs but Ecoquid is the only one that pays both consumers and affiliates via a points system to sell their used smart phones and other electronics. Although outdated electronics are not that valuable in their original forms, each device contains a plethora of wires, microchips and precious metals that can be broken down and sold to manufacturing companies.

It is still to soon to see whether or not Ecosquid has what it takes to be awarded the best affiliate program 2011 but this company has truly innovative ideas. The program is aimed at electronics consumers in the UK who statistically recycle electronic devices at a lower rate than other developed nations. Ecosquid prides itself on the fact that the company only works with responsible vendors to discard of unwanted electronics. Participants can accumulate points over time, cash them in for valuable prizes and gain additional points by referring other users. The purpose of Ecosquid is to give consumers that are environmentally conscious a way to recycle their electronic easily. Before this website was launched consumers would have to search the Internet and call recycling companies to find out how to responsibly dispose of their old electronics, but Ecosquid not only makes the process this company also makes recycling rewarding for all involved.

Things are heating up in the world of smart phones as the diversity increases and companies find further ways to sharpen their specialties to present their products as genuine challengers for the crown of the smart phone world. Many have speculated that Apple might just be able to be knocked from the top of the tree, but others point out that it depends on how hard the competition is willing to climb to get to them. This means that specialist phones are now hitting the shelves and display cases around the world which can present a very strong challenge to iPhone, the current king of the roost, and that as more of these phones arrive it could be only a matter of time before the giant is tilted a bit too far and topples over. The analysts who keep watch over the emerging smart phone market have long predicted a challenger, but these days it has come to seem as if the pure brand domination of Apple’s name alone might just be enough to keep them highly competitive for years to come. The arrival of new smart phones in the past month, however, might just be adjusting that picture to put these other companies in a brand new light. Among the competitors is LG which is known for their ability to innovate with an impressive product offering mix that aims at different segments of the smart phone consumer base in order to provide a host of options for buyers who have been fence sitting when it comes to mobile phones.

With the brand new LG Pop recently unveiled, many analysts are touting its low cost as a real challenge to iPhone which has traditionally been the choice of consumers who have more to spend. The Pop is willing to sacrifice some features in order to keep prices low and this could be a powerful lure for many.

Many in the mobile phone market already know that the days of a simple cell phone are long gone and today consumers demand a host of features that the iPhone from Apple made into an absolute must have. Web surfing software packages, touch screens, cameras and even video camcorders are rapidly becoming the true industry standard for consumers at all levels so phones that do not offer these features are likely to be over looked by all but those who are seeking a dirt cheap alternative to the smart phone. This smart phone industry has recently become an arena for battles on a gladiatorial level that Ancient Rome would have admired with mega corporations bringing to market amazing pieces of technical wizardry that only a few short years ago would have sounded like pure magic. The battle has heated up recently with the arrival of a new competitor that has traditionally given Apple some competition, but nowhere near the level they now face from this Korean company.

Those in the analyst field are saying that the Apple iPhone holds such strong sway over the consumer market that it would be tough for any company to ease in side ways, but some critics are actually coming to a change of heart after seeing the Samsung Wave in action. With DivX and XviD support coming standard on the Wave, it looks as if Samsung has gotten deadly serious about not taking a back seat in the race for market domination of the smart phone industry. There are a host of features that used to be iPhone exclusives which the Wave is bringing to bear, giving consumers yet another choice in the world of smart phones that will allow them to find the perfect device for their needs. Competitors, however, fully expect an iPhone strike back quite soon.

According to reports AT&T is currently offering free wireless access to iPhone users at many of its public hot spots. These spots include many Starbucks across the nation which currently boasts more than 7,000 stores in the United States. iPhone users are given a specially formatted page when they launch the Safari browser. They are then presented with a form that will ask them to enter the iPhone phone number and once this number is verified users can browse using AT&T’s hot spot rather than the slower EDGE based data network that AT&T typically uses. Details about this access are still mostly unreported and when last confronted AT&T refused to comment on the service. It is still undetermined whether the WI-FI access is unlimited or is available at all of AT&T’s hot spots which totals more than 70,000 including Barnes & Noble stores and the highly popular McDonald’s fast food chain.

It has been reported that Apple is agreeing to allow Telecom Italia Mobile sell unlocked iPhones without the typically mandatory two-year contract. This move is expected to be much more appreciated by Italian iPhone users who are among the largest number of prepaid service plan users. The unlocked iPhone will also be usable with other carriers besides Telecom Italia. TIM will however still retain the right to sell the iPhone exclusively for the first six months after its release. This is expected to catapult the iPhone in Italy but the cost will be much more expensive due to the agreement.
